Our duplex house is located in Waldenbuch, south of Stuttgart. Home of the Ritter Sport Chocolate :) It is 15km from Panzer Kaserne (Elementary, High School, PX, small commissary, support services (id, VAT forms, vehicle insp/reg), 19km from Patch Barracks (middle school, main commissary, movie theater, clinic, gas station, EUCOM), 19km from Kelley Barracks (AFRICOM, gas station, small commissary, wood shop, community theater) and 29 km from Robinson Barracks (furniture store, commissary). It is not on a SBahn route but has busses that service to the SBahn and airport.
The school bus stop is a 3-4 minute walk down the street for Elementary, Middle and high schools. Bus pick ups are approximately between 0700-0730 with the middle school being first as the distance is further. This is one of the last stops for the bus before heading to the schools. The drop off point is not the same as the pickup point but it only adds another minute to the walk.

- Our landlord owns both sides of our duplex. He is attentive on repairs and basically just wants you to call the repair person if it involves the heating/water systems. The house has floor heating and a few radiators in the larger rooms that is powered by gas (no oil!). Of course, this being Germany, no A/C, just rolladens and many windows.

- The house consists of two units, the main house and the downstairs apartment. Both use the main door as an entry point. Once in the entryway, you can go straight to the main house door or to the right, down the stairs to the apartment main door. Outside the apartment main door, you have a door on the left to a storage room (American refrigerator loaner and loaner closets are in here for us) and a door on the right to the washer/dryer, furnace room.

- When entering the apartment there is a bedroom off to the left of the hallway, followed by a bathroom (WC and shower), with storage closet on the right. At the end of the hallway there is a door which leads to the combo living/dining room, kitchen area. There is a double door that leads to a small covered patio (my grilling area) and to the backyard. We actually made this combo room into my daughter's queendom. She had her bed, dresser, chair, sofa, TV here and we took the door of the storage closet and made that her clothes closet. The standard bedroom was used a guest bedroom.

- Back at the top of the stairs, you enter the main floor of the house. Here you having the kitchen, dining area, living room and doors to the balcony. The balcony has stairs to the backyard and we have many meals out here.
- Take the stairs to the 2nd floor, and you have 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (separate shower from "sitting tub" , WC, 2 sinks, 1 bidet) , the master bedroom on the front of the house has slanted ceilings due to the pitch of the roof while the other two bedrooms (a guest room and study for us) have standard flat ceilings. These two bedrooms have access to another balcony that over looks the backyard and neighbors.

- Continuing to the third floor, you have what could be another bedroom/workout room, playroom, storage area etc. There is also storage areas under the eaves of the roof.

- Whole house is tiled with in floor heating.

- You have two parking spots in front of the house and one carport for a small car. I have my motorcycles parked in there as the other two cars will not fit. Under the carport is my "man shed" where I keep all my lawn tools, workbench, power tools, seasonal items. You gain entrance via the backyard or down the carport stairs.

Location Waldenbuch is a nice little town and has a small old historic center
Shopping, restaurants, public indoor pool, the famous Ritter chocolate factory etc. nearby
Its close to all bases- Schoolzone E1, M1
There are lots of hiking and biking trails in the woods.
